ACEROLA
Edible fruit of a shrub of the Amazonian forest, the acerola resembles cherries of red color which weigh from 20 to 40 grams. The acerola has been consumed since time immemorial by the Amazonian Indians and then by the Spanish conquistadores who used acerola on ships to
compensate for vitamin C deficiencies during their voyages.
Acerola berries grow naturally in the tropical and subtropical regions of South America. Gorged with vitamin C easily assimilated by the body, acerola contains a high level of vitamin C up to thirty times higher than that of oranges.
